Phone free driving starts tomorrow in Iowa

Starting tomorrow officers across the State of Iowa will be able to issue citations for phone use while driving, but it’s not just troopers and large cities that will be doing this.
Smaller and local police departments can and will be issuing citations as well. The City of Maquoketa released some information about what can’t be done starting tomorrow.
Even when stopped at a red light, you still will not be able to check your phone, enter an address into GPS, or any other action that requires you to touch your phone. Video calling of any kind while driving is also prohibited, and calls are only allowed when done hand free. These rules don’t apply to just highways, but our own community as well.
So be safe and don’t use your phone when driving, or you will receive a citation for doing so.
