Monthly oversized waste pickup in Maquoketa

If you have some extra trash bags to get rid of, or larger, more bulky items as well, the city offers a way to get rid of them with relative ease.

Dittmer Recycling, the city’s waste collection contractor, has a monthly oversized item pickup. You can pick up tags for such items at the city hall, and they must be purchased in person. $10 will get you a tag for furniture items like beds and couches, and $20 tags are available for electronics and appliances.

Then all you have to do is haul it out to the curb on the scheduled pick up date and it will be taken care of. The next pick up date for large items is January 12th.
