Maquoketa Splash Pad CAT Grant

The holiday season just got a lot brighter for the City of Maquoketa. On Friday December 19th, the State of Iowa Economic Development Authority officially announced a major financial boost for the local community.
The City and the Maquoketa Area YMCA have been awarded a $628,000 grant from the Community Attraction and Tourism program. This is the highest possible award amount and serves as a massive milestone for the developing Aquatic Park project.
The project isn’t just about fun in the sun. Beyond the high-value aquatic experience, the plans include vital safety upgrades for pedestrians and vehicles on Matteson Street. Additionally, the YMCA will tile its pool shell, a move that will save the City significant money on long-term maintenance and painting costs.
City officials credit the success to the leadership of YMCA Executive Director Scott Warren, dedicated volunteers, and the City Council’s strategic planning.
With private fundraising and city financing already in motion, the dream of a premier Jackson County destination is now well within reach. The City looks forward to a splashy—and successful—2026.
