Semester recap with Cardinal Principal Rachel Truelsen

With the school semester in Maquoketa just ending, Middle School Principal Rachel Truelsen spoke on our Just Talk segment about the semester. One of the main topics that was discussed was the decision to move the 5th grade class from elementary to middle school. There were many different factors that influenced this decision, from construction projects to other school districts.

The transition was decided on and this past semester saw the results of it. Restructuring of schedules and classrooms was needed, but it was all done with care and planning. Principal Truelsen commented on the efforts taken to make the adjustments.

The adjustments were made and the 5th grade was moved into the middle school. The transition went smoothly and according to Truelsen, the 5th graders have been taking things in stride.

The semester, while having many new and moving parts in it, went about as well as it could’ve. Truelsen is proud of the 5th graders, as well as the whole school for the semester progressing as seamlessly as it did.
