Maquoketa Teacher receives teaching award in Des Moines

Maquoketa Cardinal Teacher Jenna Spain has been recognized for her teaching efforts in the school district.

Jenna Spain received the 2025 Iowa Excellence in Teaching about Agriculture award in Des Moines yesterday. Spain, who also received other teaching awards earlier this year, is said to demonstrate how agriculture can enrich Iowa’s core academic subjects.

Spain incorporates agriculture and practical applications into her classroom experience, to foster continued growth and interest in learning. In addition to the award, Spain will receive a $500 stipend to support her continued efforts of integrating agriculture into her classroom.

She will also attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom conference held in Providence, Rhode Island in June 2026.
