Update on 5th grade switch to Cardinal Middle School

Today on Just Talk I had the opportunity to speak with the Cardinal Middle School principal Rachel Truelsen.

One of the topics we discussed was the recent decision to move the 5th grade class from elementary to middle school. It started as a move when the Briggs project began, and saw some shuffling to adjust the transition.

While the merging of 5th grade into the middle school was new for this year, Truelsen said it has gone great. The 5th grade has had no issue with the transition and are enjoying the new building and system for their classes.

The decision to make 5th grade part of the middle school also lined up with other school districts. Rachel said that most other districts around Maquoketa have 5-8 for middle school as well.
