NWS’s statistics on accidents during winter months

With all of the snow that Iowa has received lately, the National Weather Service put out some information about driving statistics in snow.
According to data from NWS, the Iowa DOT, and the Iowa State Patrol, almost 75 percent of crashes happen in less than two inches of snow. They say to slow down and allow for extra space between you and other vehicles.
Less snow doesn’t always mean less risk, always take care when driving, especially during the winter.
