November accident on Highway 61

There were five accidents in Jackson County in the last two weeks of November. Most were involving a deer, but one was between two vehicles.

According to the official police report, on Nov. 20th two cars collided on Highway 61 around 4pm. 85-year-old Bertrand Coakley of La Motte pulled out of his driveway and into the road. 42-year-old Jordan Jorgenson of Maquoketa was traveling north when Coakley entered the highway. Jorgenson was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear of Coakley’s car.

No injuries occurred from the accident but Jorgenson’s vehicle was totaled from the collision.

Coakley was cited for failure to yield when entering a through highway.
