Mike Rollings

Mike Rollings, 70, of DeWitt, Iowa passed away suddenly Thursday, November 27, 2025, in Davenport, following a heart attack.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Long Grove Christian Church. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025, in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Michael Max Rollings was born on September 17, 1955 to Max and Lorene (Mattingly) Rollings in Champaign, Illinois. His childhood was spent in Washington, Illinois, where he graduated from Washington High School in 1973. He felt called to be a pastor at age 13 and started preaching regularly at age 15 at the Smithville Bible Church, in Smithville, Illinois. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Pastoral Ministry at Lincoln Christian College. He later earned his MBA from St. Ambrose University.

Before his senior year in college, God led Mike to start a church in DeWitt, Iowa. It was here that he met and married, Kathy Lewis, his wife of now 46 years. In addition to the church Mike started in DeWitt, IA, he also pastored a church in Madrid, IA for several years. After working for some time outside of ministry, he returned to his life’s passion when he was called to the Long Grove Christian Church, where he pastored until the time of his death. Being with this church family was answer to prayer and a wonderful way to end his ministry on earth.

Mike had two passions, his love for his family and preaching the gospel. Many special friendships and mentoring opportunities were formed around studying the Word of God. He was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan, loved books and history, as well as a good Sunday drive. He was courageous and persistent through many health struggles.

Mike is survived by his wife, Kathy, their two children, Joel Rollings (Heide) and Joy Begyn (Brad). He was “Pop” to his six grandchildren; Rydell, June, Maybelle, and Rockwell Rollings, Camille and Howie Begyn. He was so blessed by this wonderful family. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Penny Rollings and his brother, Perry (Tori) Rollings, sisters-in-law Maryann Stubitsch, Barbara Hudetz and Nancy Rollings, many beloved nieces and nephews as well. We will all miss him terribly.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, his brother Jim, his sister Challys, brother-in-law, Tony and nephew Matt.

Memorials can be directed to the Long Grove Christian Church or to Advancing the Kingdom (Mike’s favorite mission to Uganda), or to a charity of your choice. Truly, what Mike would like the most as a memorial, would be for you to seek Christ.

Arrangements are in the care of Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Condolences may be expressed at http://www.schultzfuneralhomes.com
