Local Sports Update – Wednesday, Nov. 26

Last night in local high school girls basketball:

Bellevue throttled Prince of Peace in their season opener 80-15. 

3A #1 Maquoketa fell to 5A 9th-ranked Iowa City High 36-34 in a back-and-forth match.

 

Yesterday in men’s college basketball:

15th ranked Iowa State beat Creighton 78-60 at the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas. The Cyclones will take on Syracuse today – tip off is at noon on TNT.

Also yesterday in college basketball – the Iowa and UNI men’s teams both competed at the Acrisure Classic in Palm Springs, California. The Panthers took down Loyola Chicago 72-51; they’ll play Tulsa today at 3:30. The Hawkeyes beat Ole Miss 74-69;  they play late tonight at 8:30 against Grand Canyon. 

Iowa, Iowa State, and UNI all sit undefeated at 6-0.

 

Tonight in women’s college hoops: the Iowa Hawkeyes, who are now ranked 11th in the country, will host Western Illinois. The game will tip off at 6:30 only on Big Ten+.
