Local Sports Update – Tuesday Nov. 25

Last night in local 1A high school girls basketball:

Midland fell in their season opener at Durant 58-49.

Calamus-Wheatland took down Louisa-Muscatine 47-38 on the road. 

Marquette Catholic was all over Easton Valley last night in Preston 55-32.

Tonight in local high school girls basketball:

Bellevue opens their season at home against Prince of Peace.

3A #1 Maquoketa faces 5A 9th-ranked Iowa City High at home. The Cards will go for revenge after the Little Hawks beat them in Iowa City last season. Tip off for the game is at 7:30 – pregame coverage on KMAQ begins at 7:15. 

Last night in men’s college basketball:

15th ranked Iowa State snuck by #14 St. Johns 83-82 at the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas. The Cyclones will take on Creighton today – tip off at 1pm on TruTV.

Also today in college basketball – the Iowa and UNI men’s teams will be competing at the Acrisure Classic in Palm Springs, California. The Panthers will take on Loyola Chicago at 3pm. The Hawkeyes will play Ole Miss – that game will tip off late tonight at 8:30 on CBS.
