Maquoketa PD and Cardinal Schools Winter Coat Drive

The Maquoketa Police Department is working with the Maquoketa School District to help give kids in the schools winter apparel. I spoke with Officer James Tenney today about the effort, how it came about, and what people can do to help.
This drive came about when he was speaking to a faculty member at one of the schools who mentioned the need for coats. Tenney spoke with the Maquoketa Chief of Police who gave him the go ahead to start the coat drive.
It’s not just coats that are needed or accepted, but any winter clothing. Items like gloves, boots, hats, and scarves will all be used. Tenney mentioned that the need is within the school and all items donated will be given to the children within the school system.
While all types are needed and appreciated, the largest need for coats is in the elementary grades. The coat drive is ongoing until December 13th, with donations being accepted at any of the Maquoketa Schools and the Chamber Office located right on Main Street.
