Low-level flyovers happening soon in Jackson and surrounding counties

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office shared a release on Facebook about low-level flyovers happening soon. Later in the month, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) will be working with several states to map mineral resources and update the mapping of the nation’s geology.
Iowa is one of the states that is being done, and the Iowa Geological Survey is also aiding in the efforts. They will be mapping much of the Mississippi River and the counties surrounding it, with Jackson County being one of them.
The USGS states that the planes will be flown by pilots specially trained and approved in low-flight missions. The Sheriff’s Office wants to make this information known to everyone in the area so it doesn’t cause concern.
