Jackson County grassfire

There was a grass fire over the weekend that required response from three fire departments.

On Saturday, the 15th, around 11:30 a.m., the Maquoketa Fire Department was dispatched to a fire on 104th Street. Officials told KMAQ that the Springbrook and Andrew Fire Departments assisted with firefighting efforts. Surrounding roads were temporarily closed to protect the public and help contain the fire.

The fire was brought under control after about two hours, and crews cleared the scene around 1:30 p.m.
