Dubuque starts AI education initiative

Dubuque has starting its program of educating the public on AI.
Following the incident of AI generated nude images of students in the Western Dubuque school district, the Dubuque Community school district is taking steps to prevent further such issues from arising. The Dubuque police held a public meeting on Tuesday where the community, but especially parents, were informed about some of the dangers that can happen with AI.
While AI was talked about in depth, the dangers of social media in general were also discussed. One of the main takeaways was how often conversations arise in more public sections like video game lobbies, before being moved to separate platforms where monitoring for potential exploitation is more difficult.
This initiative is not intended to scare anyone, but rather educate parents on the dangers of these tools, and how they can be misused when left unchecked.
