Leaf clean up in Maquoketa starts next week

Maquoketa will be cleaning up leaves in the city starting Monday of next week.

The clean up will be divided into the East and West sides of town with Main Street being the divide. The east side has been designated for clean up first, the west will be the week after, and Platt and Main streets being the week of Thanksgiving.

With it being the middle of fall, the leaf clean up will be completely free. All residents need to do is gather the leaves into the roads near the curb and along the gutter line.

Some important notes are to not include any other yard waste within the piles, as it is for leaves only. Make sure to not park cars and equipment near the piles, as the clean up crews will not be able to retrieve the leaves then. Do not place leaves out more than one day ahead of the scheduled pick up date. City equipment will be making many passes throughout the areas to clean up as much as possible.

Leaves will be picked up starting Monday Nov. 10th until Wednesday Nov. 26th, afterwards no leaves will be gathered by the city.

Information comes from the announcement made by the City of Maquoketa Public Works.
