Water shutoff and boil advisory for parts of Maquoketa

Tomorrow there will be a water shutdown in Maquoketa that will affect some buildings in town.

The water is being shut off to allow for construction installations for the Briggs school expansion. To allow for the construction, water will be shut off around 1:30pm on Friday and is only expected to last around four hours, which is around 5:30pm.

The affected buildings in the 100, 200, and 300 blocks of North Decker, the 300 and 400 blocks of West Quarry, and the 300 block of West James.

Because of the water shut off, the Iowa DNR recommends residents in the area boil the water before using it. While the boil advisory is recommended when using water for cooking or drinking, using the water for showers or laundry should be fine.

The boil advisory is only expected to last around 48 hours, which is around Sunday evening.
