State Volleyball Tournament Results from Yesterday – KMAQ Sports Update

Yesterday the Iowa High School State Volleyball Tournament kicked off at Xtream Arena in Coralville and Classes 4 and 5A held their quarterfinal matchups. 

In 4A: 1 seed Clear Creek Amana beats 8 seed Sergeant Bluff-Luton in 3 sets

2 seed Sioux Center gets by 7 seed Marion 3 sets to 1

3 seed Pella beats 6 seed Norwalk, also 3 sets to 1

5 seed North Scott, Eldridge pulls the upset on 4 seed Dallas Center-Grimes, winning 3 sets to 1. The Lancers will take on top-seed Clear Creek Amana tomorrow. 

In Class 5A: Top-seeded Waukee Northwest blows by 8 seed Indianola in 3 sets 

2 seed Ankeny Centennial does the same to 7 seed Iowa City West

5 seed Ankeny takes down 4 seed Dowling Catholic in a thrilling 5-set match 

Defending state champion and 3 seed Pleasant Valley is upset in the first round by 6 seed Valley, West Des Moines. The match went to 5 sets where the Tigers were able to squeak out a 15-13 win in the closest way possible. 

Today Classes 1, 2, and 3A will play their quarterfinal matchups. Stay tuned for the results tomorrow. 

Last night in the NFL for Monday Night Football, the Arizona Cardinals went into Dallas and picked up a 27-17 win over the Cowboys, snapping a 5-game losing streak.
