Florence I. McCutcheon

Florence Iola McCutcheon, 100, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at home.

Florence Iola Ward was born on July 29, 1925, near Monmouth, Iowa, to Adelbert Hildreth and Lily Viola (Lantz) Ward. She was a 1943 graduate of Monmouth High School. She married Perry Lee McCutcheon on December 9, 1945, in Maquoketa, Iowa. One daughter was born to this union, Iola Lee.

Florence had worked for the Clinton Garment Company for 23 years and then owned and operated the Clinton Abstract and Title Company for several years.

Florence was a member of the Sabula United Methodist Church. She loved puzzles and figuring out the most difficult land abstracts.

Those left to honor her memory include a daughter, Iola Lee McCutcheon of Maquoketa, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Perry on November 3, 2003, brothers Hildreth “Bud” and Raymond “Ray” Ward, and a sister Phyllis Mae Scott.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M., Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Florence Iola McCutcheon memorial fund has been established.
