Dubuque invests further into regional airport

Dubuque has invested more money into its airport to boost use for travel.
Dubuque has secured a direct line to Chicago’s O’Hare airport, but must provide money for the flights until it becomes self-sustaining. The Dubuque City Council recently approved 2.5 million dollars in taxpayer revenue to be invested in the service, with a small percentage of that going towards marketing it. City leaders are also calling on businesses to help raise an additional three-quarters of a million dollars towards the service.
The decision has received mixed opinions by the public. Some support the initiative, saying it will help people travel from closer instead of traveling to Cedar Rapids. Others express hesitation on the longevity of the program, and the amount of money invested into it.
