Fire prevention week – controlled burns

A report of black smoke was called in to officials on Saturday.

It’s fire prevention week and as a reminder, while Jackson County is not under a burn ban, many surrounding areas are and the risk for fires is greater with the harvest season.

If you plan on burning outside, make sure to call the non-emergency line and inform officials of the burn. If they receive any calls about a burn in that area, they will know it is not an issue that requires attention and resources.

Always be aware of what you are burning and where, and inform officials of any such burns.
