Vendor Appreciation at the Maquoketa Farmers Market

Yesterday was vendor appreciation at the Maquoketa Farmers Market. Many vendors had been there since the beginning, and many others came in afterwards. But all of them helped the market grow and succeed.

I was able to speak with Melissa Wood and a few vendors about their time with the farmers market. Melissa spoke about her favorite memory from being a member of the committee for the farmers market.

I then was able to get an interview with two of the vendors at the market. The first one were the Johnson’s who were bakers, and had been vendors for 12 years. They spoke about the community as a whole that came to the farmers market.

The second vendor was Granny B’s who had been a vendor at the market for 13 years. Here’s her favorite memory.

Plenty of people were stopping by the farmers market, many with their families. Hot dogs and food were being cooked and served by the Ohnward Fine Arts Board, and live music was being played by Dan Holm. It was a wonderful event that shined a light on all of the vendors, new and old, that came together to give the community 14 years of fresh produce, fun, and engagement.

There are still two more markets to go, so be sure to stop by before the season ends!
