Maquoketa man arrested for hit and run

A Maquoketa man was arrested this weekend for a hit and run and is facing multiple charges.

According to the official police report, 27-year-old Wesley Vanscoyoc hit two parked cars in the 100 block of North Otto Street with his 2000 Silverado. Vanscoyoc then, allegedly, fled the accident going to his residence in the 300 block of North Eliza Street. Police state that he showed signs of drunkenness and smelled of alcohol. Vanscoyoc was injured from the accident and refused all field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail. Police state he was defiant throughout all of it by pushing back, yelling, and spitting blood on equipment.

Vanscoyoc is facing charges for hit and run involving serious injury, resisting arrest, and his 2nd offense of an OWI. He was also given citations for failure to maintain control and failure to provide proof of insurance.
