The Maquoketa Cardinals fall at home to 4th-ranked Mount Vernon 50-0.
In College Football this weekend:
14th-ranked Iowa State beat Arizona 39-14 in Ames to improve to 5-0 on the season. The Cyclones play at Cincinnati next week.
And the Iowa Hawkeyes dropped a close one at home against 8th-ranked Indiana 20-15 the final score. Iowa Quarterback Mark Gronowski went down with a left leg injury at the start of the 4th quarter with Iowa leading 13-10 but did not return to the game. Sophomore QB Hank Brown took over, and a tipped pass that was intercepted along with a missed field goal, gave Indiana the chance to score a late touchdown and steal the win. Gronowski will have extra time to heal as the Hawkeyes are set for a bye week.
Â
The St. Louis Cardinals wrapped up their 2025 season yesterday, as they were swept in a weekend series in Chicago against the rival Cubs. The cards finish 78-84 on the year, 5 games back from a wild-card spot. The NL Central was very tough this year as the 3-teams in the division ahead of St. Louis all made the playoffs.
