Gov. Kim Reynolds loosens restrictions on overweight transports for the harvest season

Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a proclamation for the entire State relating to agriculture and harvest.

The order allows for the transportation of overweight loads of products such as soybeans, corn, fertilizer, and more with fewer restrictions. Concerns about a timely harvest are high which has increased truck traffic across the State. To help allow for efficient use of the highways and manpower, the governor has loosened the weight restrictions and permits required for overweight loads. Relaxing the gross weight and axel limits of truck loads are two the most notable changes.

This proclamation only lasts until October 18th, but could be extended or shortened by the governor as needed. Some important notes are that this does not loosen the restrictions on roads or bridges. All posted and labeled weight limits on highways must be obeyed. This order also does not apply to the interstate system. Normal restrictions must be obeyed when traveling on the interstate.
