Dubuque County raises awareness on dangers of AI

Dubuque county officials are raising awareness about the dangers of AI following the incident in the Cascade high school five months ago.
Teenagers in the school were using AI to create nude photos of their classmates and other students. Three teenagers are facing criminal charges in the case, and some will not be allowed to return to school in person.
The Dubuque County Attorney Scott Nelson will be working with all of the schools in Dubuque County to educate both students and parents on the dangers of AI. Presentations will be held in the schools to inform students of the very real long-term consequences of misusing AI. A separate presentation will be held for the parents on warning signs to look out for and information about the dangers as well.
Nelson made a comment that as far as he is aware, this is the first case of its kind in the country. While the laws may not be in place yet, the community must band together to protect children for the future.
