In addition to the 30 year sentence, he will also be serving ten years of supervised release, alongside an additional 8-thousand dollar fine he must pay.
The investigation into Salter was launched back in 2017 when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip that an account linked to Salter was receiving explicit child abuse materials.
When officials took electronics from his home during their investigation, they found an email exchange between himself and a 16-year-old girl. The conversation was over a six month period in 2018 in which Salter attempted to convince her to send him sexually explicit content.
The case was investigated by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Davenport Police Department, and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation.
