The Waterloo Regional Airport (abbreviated to ALO) is celebrating its recent expansion and growth. The airport reports it has expanded its flight services and has seen passenger numbers double when compared to 2024. Much of this growth is thanks to new state grant funding for infrastructure within the region.
One statistic that reflects this growth is that people from over 400 different U.S. ZIP codes traveled through ALO between June and July. Another is that United Airlines has over 175 connections to multiple destinations from ALO. To further support its growth, the Iowa Transportation Commission approved funding for terminal updates, including new flooring and paint, to meet rising passenger demand.
