Davenport schools place additional restrictions on cell phone use

Schools in Davenport are implementing more phone policies for the upcoming school year. While the recent law signed by Gov. Kim Reynolds restricts phone use by students in classrooms, Davenport wants to expand on it.
The schools will be educating the students on exactly why the restriction is in place, as they want the focus to be learning the materials, rather than a screen. A faculty member said that they themselves can be distracted by phones just as easily as the students, and that measures will also be put in place for all faculty members.
The schools were also sure to try and alleviate some worries in parents, saying that contacting their children should not be an issue. If a parent needs to contact a student, they can call the building that the child is in, and faculty will get them on the phone as quickly as they can. All of this is being done in an effort to create a learning environment that both the students and teachers can engage in, without the constant distraction of phones.
