Other accidents in Jackson County

On August 7th a truck rear ended a tractor that was pulling an empty hay wagon. The truck driver, Kenneth Clarck of Bellevue, was going around a bend and did not have enough time to slow down or stop. The tractor driver, Dennis Ernst of Bellevue, was uninjured and Kenneth sustained only minor injuries. The truck was totaled and the hay trailer sustained damages around 25-hundred dollars. No citations were issued.

Shannon Chrest of Maquoketa was involved in an accident on August 16th. At around midnight a deer jumped out into the road which Chrest swerved to avoid. Chrest went off the road and struck an embankment which totaled the car and damaged some property. Chrest was arrested for OWI 1st offence, and cited for failure to maintain control and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
