Maquoketa City Council votes to keep area zoned as residential

Monday night the Maquoketa City Council held a rezoning meeting. The property that was proposed for rezoning was the former Prairie Creek Gold Course, located at 806 Timber Drive.

The landowner requested it be changed from residential to agricultural for cattle grazing. Members of the community voiced concerns about chemical sprays, barbed wire fences, and safety due to the proximity to homes. The council voted 6-1 to keep the area zoned as residential.
