Clinton man arrested for Abandonment of a Dog

A Clinton man has been arrested for abandoning a dog in a park on the 2nd. James B. Simpson Jr. was witnessed driving into the Bulger’s Hollow Recreational Area and dropping a dog off in the park before driving away. The dog was picked up by the witnesses and was eventually transferred to the Clinton Humane Society where it is now. On the 2nd, police located and spoke with Simpson, where he admitted to abandoning the dog earlier that day.
With an admission of guilt and witnesses to the event, on Monday the 4th, an arrest warrant was issued and he was arrested for and charged with Abandonment of a Dog. In this case it is a simple misdemeanor, as the dog did not have any injuries as a result of the abandonment. He was booked into and is currently at the Clinton County Jail. The Clinton Sheriff’s Office made sure to state that there are always alternatives to abandoning an animal, and that investigations into such cases will be diligent and that they “will pursue the most serious criminal charges allowed under the law.”
