Sentencing Hearings – 8/1

Today there will be a sentencing hearing for Jeffery Scott Bills of Zwingle. On the 30th of April, Bills failed to pull over and stop for a law enforcement vehicle after being signaled to do so. He was arrested that same day and charged with eluding police while going 25MPH over the speed limit. Bills initially pleaded not guilty to the charge against him, but on the 13th of June, withdrew it and pleaded guilty to the charge, which is a class-D felony. The sentencing hearing to determine his penalty is today at 9AM at the Jackson County Courthouse.

Another sentencing hearing will also be today for Jason Dean White of Maquoketa. On May 6th, White was arrested for possession of a smoke pipe with methamphetamine residue and a small baggie with residue of said meth. This is his 3rd or subsequent drug charge, and he initially pleaded not guilty to the charges. On the 23rd of June however, he withdrew that claim, and pleaded guilty to the charge, which is a class-D felony. The sentencing hearing to determine his penalty is today at 9:30AM at the Jackson County Courthouse.
