Clinton to use grant funding for YMCA cleaning & development

The City of Clinton was awarded more than $1 million in Brownfields cleanup grant funding. The $1,091,917 in grant funding will be used to clean up the former Clinton YMCA property at 480 South 3rd Street, which is contaminated with inorganic materials, according to a media release. The city plans to use grant funds to remove the pool for redevelopment, finalize a community involvement plan, and support public engagement activities to ensure transparency and community input during the cleanup process. Mayor Scott Maddasion said this project is a key part of the city’s continued efforts to revitalize and transform downtown Clinton into a vibrant, welcoming destination for residents and visitors alike.
