Sports Update – 7/25/25 – KMAQ Sports

Yesterday in Iowa High School Sports was Day 4 of the baseball and softball state tournaments, and multiple teams advanced to and won state championship matches. (yesterday’s scores and matchups for today in audio) 

In St. Louis Cardinals action: the birds took down the San Diego Padres 9-7 last night in Game 1 of a 4-game homestand. Game 2 is tonight, Pregame coverage begins at 5:20 right here on KMAQ. 

In MLB News: The Seattle Mariners acquired first baseman Josh Naylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks last night, kicking off Major League Baseball’s trade season. The 28 year old Naylor was named to the All Star team last season, and has a .292 batting average this year.

In NFL News: The Las Vegas Raiders have released DT Christian Wilkins after one season, in which he played just 5 games. The Raiders have voided $35.2 million in guaranteed money, that decision was made due to the way Wilkins was treating the rehab for the foot injury that cost him 12 games last season. Wilkins has filed a grievance with the NFLPA in response.
