Davenport Man Charged With Animal Torture

Erick Childs, 18,  of Davenport was arrested yesterday for animal abuse. Davenport police responded to a report in 700 block of Sylvan Court of four kittens being tortured. According to officials, a video shows Child putting 4 kittens into a bag and then throwing that bag at a tree, with the bag then dropping several feet onto the ground. When police arrived on the scene they arrested Childs, and unfortunately one of the kittens was dead. Childs is also awaiting a trial for sexual abuse of a 9-year-old when he himself was a teenager. He was initially charged as a minor but a judge waived it and sent it to adult court. As it stands he is being charged with 1 class B felony of sexual abuse, and 4 counts of animal torture, which are aggravated misdemeanors. He is currently being held in the Scott County Jail.
