Gov. Reynolds Aid for Scott County

Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for Scott County in response to the severe weather late last week. The proclamation will allow for state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of this severe weather. It also activates the Disaster Case Advocacy Program for Scott County as well. The proclamation is effective immediately and expires on August 13th of this year.
The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program can provide up to 7 thousand dollars in grants for households with incomes of up to 2 hundred percent of the federal poverty level. These grants are available for home or car repairs, replacement of personal property or food, as well as temporary housing expenses. For actual expenses related to storm recovery, original receipts are required for those seeking reimbursement. The grant application and instructions are available on the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management website, and potential applicants have 45 days from the date of the proclamation to apply.
The Disaster Case Advocacy Program addresses serious needs related to disaster-related hardship, injury, or adverse conditions. Disaster case advocates work with clients to create a disaster recovery plan and provide guidance, advice, and referrals to obtain a service or resource. There are no income eligibility requirements for this program; it closes 180 days from the date of Gov. Reynolds’ proclamation.
