On Wednesday, July 9, the Maquoketa Kiwanis Club hosted 46 youth at the Grove Street Fields for the 2025 MLB Pitch Hit & Run Local Competition. Local athletes showed their skills in pitching, hitting and running. They competed in softball and baseball categories divided by age. The first-place finishers in each age group have their scores submitted to Major League Baseball for a chance to compete in the Team Championships, hosted at an MLB stadium prior to an MLB game. In the past, local champions from Maquoketa competed at the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers Team Championships.
The Maquoketa Kiwanis Club would like to thank all of the competitors at this year’s event. They would also like to thank all the Kiwanis Club volunteers that helped make tonight’s event possible.
Here are the first-place finishers for each age group:
7/8 Softball – Sunny Seyfert Berg
9/10 Softball – Charley Seyfert Berg
