Davenport Police Investigating Attempted Abduction

In Davenport, police are investigating a disturbing incident involving an attempted abduction Monday afternoon. Officers responded to a home in the 1200 block of South Michigan Avenue just after 2 p.m., after a caller reported an unknown intruder trying to take a baby. When police arrived, they found the suspect actively harming the child. Officers intervened, rescuing the baby and detaining the suspect after a brief struggle. The baby, the suspect, and an officer were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation remains ongoing.
