Freeport Man Facing Charges After Chase & Shooting in Savanna

A Freeport man is facing a long list of charges after a dramatic police chase across three Illinois counties ended in an officer-involved shooting. Illinois State Police say 59-year-old Mark Feltmeyer was taken into custody Tuesday following a pursuit that involved multiple law enforcement agencies. The chase ended with police opening fire in Savanna. Feltmeyer is now facing several felony charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing and eluding, criminal damage to both public and private property, and two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer. He’s also charged with misdemeanors for driving with a suspended license and resisting arrest. Authorities say Feltmeyer is being held at the Stephenson County Jail.
