2025 Jackson County Fair Flower Show

Today on Just Talk James Shaman spoke to Mary Ellen Kirk and Joyce Ostert about the Jackson County Fair Flower Show. The flower show starts Friday, July 25th which is the entry time from 9-11am and runs through Saturday and Sunday. There are over 70 classes and a junior division for the flower show. You can find the rules at the fair office, KMAQ or the library. Participants are heavily encouraged to read through the rules thoroughly, judging is strict.

Plants should be fresh and clean when you enter them. Planting at different times, weather, and uniformity are tips to ensure your plant is good for entering and ready to judge.

Different divisions include pots, flips, design and hanging containers. All entries must be in clear vases. The judges for this contest are federal judges and go by the rules who make the final decision.

There is only one blue, red and yellow ribbon awarded (blue is worth $3.00 and red is worth $1.50). Purple and lavender ribbons are awarded for best plant, best potted plant, best vegetable, etc.

Release time is Monday from 7-12 when you pick up your premium money, if you take your things before that date you will forfeit your premium money.

Juniors are highly encouraged to enter and bring some exhibits to the fair to show off their fresh produce/flowers.

There is no entry fee but when you come through the gate, you have a time frame to get a ticket, look through the exhibition and return your ticket.

The drop off date is Friday, July 25th and you can see the beautiful exhibits in Pearson Hall.
