Clinton County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Traveling Groups

The Clinton County Sheriff’s office is warning the public to be wary of transient or traveling groups approaching residential or rural property owners, offering to perform tasks such as yard clean-up, driveway repair, or other maintenance. Law enforcement recently confirmed the presence in this area of groups of travelers specializing in this approach. In many cases, such travelers employ their approach and working as a ruse to distract the property owner while others in the group look for unsecured back doors. While the property owner is distracted supervising the driveway or yard work in the front yard, others sneak into the home and quickly search for valuables, safes, purses, etc. If you encounter such travelers, notify your law enforcement agency.
