Dubuque Schools Passed New Cell Phone Policy

Yesterday The Dubuque Community School Board unanimously approved a new policy limiting students’ use of personal electronic devices. Starting next school year Dubuque Community School students will no longer be allowed to use their cellphones or other personal devices during the school day. The only exception will be High school students who will get to use their devices during lunch, but only in the cafeteria. This move follows a recent state law in Iowa that requires school boards to establish clear policies on cellphone use in schools. The Dubuque Community School district says the change aims to minimize distractions and support a better learning environment.
