Maquoketa High School Hall Of Fame Honorees Released

The 2025 Maquoketa High School Hall of Fame Honorees were released today, and they include:  The 1983 Maquoketa Boy’s Basketball Team. Under Hall of Fame coach Bill Fleming, the Cardinals had an outstanding 23-2 season, finishing as the Class 2A State Runner-up after a narrow 55-50 loss to Cedar Rapids Regis in the championship game. Senior Jeff Fleming led the team with a 22.6-point average and earned several postseason honors. Key contributors included juniors John Rollinger (10.6 avg.) and Paul Fix (9.7 avg.), and sophomore Shane Keeney (12.2 avg.), while team-first players like seniors Boyd Small and Kyle Hanson, and junior Brent Hutton, played crucial supporting roles. A highlight of the season was a dramatic 63-59 overtime win against Iowa Falls in the state semifinals, capped by Rollinger’s late three-pointer and achieved despite Jeff Fleming fouling out.
