Maquoketa City Council Meeting

The Maquoketa City Council met last night at City Hall with a full council. They held a public hearing regarding a 50% budget reimbursement benchmark review for the Sunshine Learning Center Project. No one spoke so they closed the public hearing. The council approved the bills payable through June 2nd in the amount of $2,940,998.58, along with cigarette permits to Dollar General, Casey’s, Fareway, Main Street Tobacco, Punky’s Cans 2 Cash, Walmart, Hy-Vee Dollar Fresh Market, Kwik Star, and KJ’s Convenience. The Maquoketa City Council approved the contract and the hiring of a new Building Inspector, Christina Schneider. The Council then approved a 1st and 2nd change order in the total amount of $8,334 for the South Main Street & Summit Street intersection. According to Maquoketa City Manager Josh Boldt the intersection is now slated to reopen on Friday. The delay was caused by the recent weather and the speed of the retaining wall installations.Â
