Iowa Works Website Shutting Down For Upgrade

Iowa’s unemployment claims and job search system is going offline today — but it’s all part of a major upgrade. Iowa Workforce Development says the current system — which has been in use for decades — will go dark at the end of the day. That’s because the state is launching a new, modern platform that combines job search tools and unemployment claims into one place: iowaworks.gov. Right now, Iowans often need to juggle multiple accounts and websites to file for benefits and look for jobs. But starting June 3rd, it’ll all be in one place — with a more user-friendly design, faster processes, and extended hours for filing.
Beth Townsend, Executive Director of Iowa Workforce Development, says For several years, IWD has been working hard to improve the unemployment process… This new system will greatly enhance the experience for both individuals and employers. From May 28 through June 2, no new or weekly claims can be filed while the system is offline. But once it launches, anyone who missed that window can file after the fact.
It’s a major shift aimed at making the unemployment process more efficient — and helping Iowans get back to work faster. For more information, visit iowaworks.gov.
