2 Davenport Men Arrested After Burglarizing Former Business

Two Davenport men are facing charges after police say they were caught burglarizing a former business late Sunday night.

Just before midnight on May 26, Davenport Police responded to a burglary in progress at 3111 Brady Street—the former site of the Trophy Shoppe.

When officers arrived, they say Andrew Aldrich, 36, and Dustin Runkle, 37, were standing outside the building. Both men reportedly fled on foot when police, in uniform and a marked squad car, approached.

Officers say the men ignored commands to stop. A witness told police the suspects had entered through an open window, removed items from inside, and placed them in a pile near a broken window.

Inside the residence, officers found Aldrich’s backpack, which reportedly contained a marijuana grinder with over 4 grams of marijuana. Neither man had permission to be in the building.

Aldrich is now facing felony third-degree burglary along with misdemeanor charges for interfering with police and drug possession. He’s being held in the Scott County Jail on a $6,000 bond, with a preliminary hearing set for June 6.

Runkle is also charged with felony burglary and interfering with official acts. He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court June 13.
