Standoff in Dubuque Leads to Arrest

A tense standoff in Dubuque Tuesday night ended with the arrest of a man wanted on multiple warrants — after police deployed tear gas and a tactical unit. It all unfolded in the 2100 block of Stafford Street, where officers tried for several hours to coax 40-year-old Leonardo Campbell out of a residence. Police say Campbell was wanted on 10 active warrants. After nearly five hours of negotiations and repeated commands, officers say Campbell still refused to surrender. Eventually, tear gas was used, and a tactical squad entered the home to safely make the arrest. Campbell is now in custody and facing numerous charges stemming from both the standoff and his outstanding warrants. No injuries were reported during the incident.
