Rainfall Could Pass 2 inches by Wednesday Night

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities is forecasting a 60% chance that Maquoketa could receive two inches or more of rain between now and Wednesday night.

This rainfall could bring some much-needed relief to the region, as drought conditions continue across the area.

Currently, the entire KMAQ listening area is classified as abnormally dry. The eastern portions of Jackson and Dubuque Counties are in even worse shape, listed under moderate drought conditions.

While the expected rain won’t completely end the dry spell, it could help improve soil moisture and ease stress on crops and local vegetation.

Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware and watch for potential localized flooding if rainfall totals climb quickly.

We’ll continue to monitor the forecast and bring you the latest updates as conditions develop.
