Maquoketa Middle School JOI Club Donates Birthday Kits
This morning, a group of thoughtful middle schoolers from Maquoketa brought more than just good intentions , they brought birthday cheer.
The Junior Optimist International Club, or JOI Club, from Maquoketa Middle School dropped off a special delivery: birthday packages designed to bring smiles to those who might not otherwise get to celebrate.
Each bag is filled with everything needed for a party, a cake mix, a baking pan, frosting, candles, paper plates, and even festive extras like balloons, birthday banners, and pins.
It’s all part of a heartfelt project to make sure everyone, no matter their circumstances, has a reason to feel special on their big day.
The club is made up of young students who are learning early what it means to serve their community. Their efforts were guided by adult leaders Cassie Edwards, Jane Schmidt, and Ivan Martin, who helped bring the idea to life.
So to the JOI Club, thank you for reminding us what a little kindness and creativity can do.
